Sharing my journey _ one story at a time.

About me:

My journey over the years included heartache, challenges, and deep grief. However as I move through middle age, I am learning my path has also been full of love, joy, and resilience. And where I go next is up to the Universe!

This blog includes my experiences with having both my daughters dealing with life threatening illness, my career as an educator, and navigating my own health crises. Luckily, I have lots of living to do and many more stories to share.

  • Slow and steady

I realize I have not updated in a couple of nights. It has been quite the few days.  Ryleigh’s recovery has not been typical and we are slowly helping her get better.  Ryleigh continues to have a great team behind her.  The surgeons and pain management doctors are on the same page now and are Read more

  • 2nd Attempt: Keep calm and carry on

Ryleigh has been recovering now for about 5 hours.  It is interesting how the post operative truth comes about after the operation! Ryleigh is not as comfortable as I thought she would be.  She has a hard time talking and gets very frustrated if we try to talk with her.  She has phlegm in her Read more

  • Surgery Over!

Ryleigh’s surgery went really well. She is in her own room on 3R and continues to be well taken care of.  Her surgery was 41/2 hours from start to finish.  The surgeons shared that everything went as planned.  The only little blip is that her hemoglobin counts had dropped this morning and so she had Read more
